Holiday Specials: How to Celebrate Hanukkah in Orange County

November 20th, 2018

Hanukkah is almost here! Best of all, all you Baker Block neighbors who celebrate this festival of lights will have plenty to do this year. Particularly in Orange County. Now, let’s see what fun we can have.

Hanukkah Events

Menorah Lighting at Fashion Island

To start, there are a few fun events happening around the corner from Baker Block. Starting with a menorah lighting ceremony in Newport Beach. On December 2nd from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at Fashion Island, you can celebrate Hanukkah with friends the night before. So, make your way over to their Atrium Garden Courtyard where they will be celebrating with singing, festive traditions, and sweet treats.

Menorah Workshop

Then, a bit further out over in Laguna Niguel is a Chanukah Wonderland. Join in on the family fun at the Laguna Niguel City Hall. It is located over at 30111 Crown Valley Parkway starting at 4 PM on Wednesday, December 2nd. Activities will include a menorah lighting, tons of arts and crafts along with hot latkes and donuts. This holiday adventure is only 20 miles out of Costa Mesa and will also make for a perfect, small, family road trip.

A Trip to 17th Street Deli

Now, you cannot go through all eight days without a visit to a deli. The closest one near Baker Block is 17th Street Deli at the Westport Square Shopping Center. Known for their sandwiches, 17th Street Deli has all the essentials. That includes Reubens, BLT’s, and pastrami sandwiches. Seeing as how they are open from 10 AM to 4 PM, 17th Street Deli will make for the perfect Jewish holiday brunch or lunch. L’chaim!

Some would say it is difficult to celebrate Hanukkah anywhere. Well, that is not the case here in the OC. It is wonderful to know that all holidays are celebrated in Orange County. That said, for all you Jewish families at Baker Block, we hope you have a fantastic Hanukkah here in the OC. Mazel tov!
