The Best of Irvine California: Where to go and what to do while visiting

September 12th, 2018

Beyond Baker Block, and only eight miles away from Costa Mesa is the city of Irvine, California. While here, you will find that there is tons of fun to be had. From unique children’s museums to a balloon ride, here is what you can expect while visiting Irvine, California.

Pretend City Children’s Museum

First, we have the Pretend City Children’s Museum. For all you Baker Block families out there, this spot would make for an excellent play date. Located on 29 Hubble Street, this nonprofit children’s museum offers 17 interactive exhibits. Designed as a small, interconnected city, kids can engage with all sorts of environments. From a pretend Trader Joes, police department, and doctors office, everything you can imagine is there for kids to pretend with. Also, no need to bring a lunch. While visiting, kids can stop by the Real Cafe for a healthy snack break. There is also an opportunity for them to continue pretending at home with their mini-mall. Filled with all sorts of toys and costumes, the fun never ends while visiting Pretend City. Open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, tickets here are only $12.50.

Tanaka Farms

Up next is Tanaka Farms on 5380 ¾ University Drive. Open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, this farm is great for both a date or an afternoon out with family or friends. Depending on the season, you can head on over to Tanaka Farms for a strawberry tour, a petting zoo, and produce stands. Seeing as how Halloween is upon us, we highly suggest taking a trip to their pumpkin patch starting on September 22nd.

K1 Speed Irvine

Then there is K1 Speed Irvine located on 17221 Von Karman Avenue. This large indoor go-kart racing center is made up of two professionally designed race tracks. Suitable for all ages, they have electric go-karting tracks for all skill levels. When you are done go-karting, stay a little longer and hang on the leather couches with the plasma TVs. Open daily, you can also stick around for lunch at their Pit Cafe.

Orange County Great Park

Finally, there is the Orange County Great Park. While here, you can experience a ride in a hot air balloon known as the Great Park Balloon & Carousel. Open Thursday through Sunday, find yourself gazing at a magnificent view of all of Orange County. This park is also bike friendly and includes a tennis court along with a Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.

Whether it is a day out with the family or a date in a hot air balloon, a trip to Irvine will never disappoint.
