May 16th, 2018

May is coming to an end which can only mean one thing, SUMMER! That in mind, we know a lot of you Baker Block residents are going to hit up the beach during those hot summer days. Seeing as how you will probably make a whole day out of it, here is a list of our favorite spots to grab some beach grub while out getting your tan and surf on.

Beach Grub in Newport Beach

First up is a delicious spot in Newport Beach. Specifically Rusty Pelican on 2735 West Coast Highway. For all you seafood lovers this is where you will be dining. Open every day from 11:30 AM to 10 PM their seafood menu has all the essentials and then some. For instance, they cook their swordfish firepot and add an extra tang to it. If you want to rock it tapas style, go ahead and get yourself some garlic bread, sauteed mushrooms, and calamari fritti. They also have an outstanding goat cheese souffle. Best of all, this restaurant is right along the water and every meal comes with an excellent view.

Beach Grub in Long Beach

If you are hitting up Long Beach for your beach day then you must eat at Beachwood Brewing and BBQ. It can easily be argued that no one BBQ’s like Beachwood. Located at 210 E 3rd street, Beachwood is affordable and open from 11:30 AM to 12 AM every day but Monday. With everything made from scratch, you are bound to have a magnificent meal at Beachwood. That said, we highly suggest ordering their smothered steak fries or fried pickles. When it comes to main courses, they have an incredible brisket and pulled pork. If you decide to bring your own food for your beach day still stop by for their iconic brews. With an array of 22 rotating taps, grab a seat on the patio, and enjoy yourself a view with a brew.

Beach Grub in Huntington Beach

Finally, we have Duke’s in Huntington Beach. Named after a surfing legend, Duke’s is serving up the hottest Hawaiian seafood every day but Monday from 5 PM to 9:30 PM. With classic beach decor around every corner, the view is outstanding from every angle. They have a delicious shrimp cocktail and their black bean nachos are a must. If you are looking for something hardy, get yourself their Mango BBQ Burger. Again, if any of you are not looking to indulge too much, then stop by Duke’s for any of their desserts and drinks.

No matter what beach grub spot you choose from here, you are in for an epic meal with a view. So grab your towels and sun hats and have yourself a beach day with some delicious grub.
